Changelog

Subaccounts

Subaccounts are now available in every workspace. Alien creates an AWS account, a Google Cloud project, or an Azure resource group in your cloud, requests the quotas it needs, and deploys your stack into it.

A separate account per customer is the strongest isolation a cloud offers: separate permissions, quotas, and bills. Before, you created each account by hand and ran initial setup in it.

Once you Connect a cloud, a new customer takes one form:

  1. Open Deployments, choose Deploy release, then Deploy to your environment.
  2. Enter the Environment name, for example customer-1.
  3. Under Where, choose New AWS subaccount, New Google Cloud subaccount, or New Azure subaccount.
  4. Pick the Region and choose Deploy.

No one runs CloudFormation or Terraform. Alien keeps the account current on every release, like any other deployment.

  • Any region: one customer's subaccount can hold deployments in several regions
  • Warm pools: keep accounts ready so a new customer deploys at once
  • Quotas: the deployment shows Waiting for quota while an increase is pending
