CLI upgrades

The Alien CLI now upgrades itself:

alien upgrade            # latest stable release
alien upgrade --canary   # latest canary build, for standalone installs
alien upgrade --dry-run  # show what would be installed

It uses the same method you installed with. If a command fails with a JSON parse error like unknown field, the CLI is older than the API: run alien upgrade and repeat the command.

A new account can also start from the terminal. alien login signs you in, and alien workspaces create <name> creates the workspace.

  • ALIEN_PROJECT: selects the project without --project, useful for a separate staging project in CI
  • alien deployments events <deployment>: recent lifecycle events for one deployment
  • alien projects delete: remove a project from the CLI
